Make Some Noise, the charity of radio station owner Global, has handed 60 charities £2.5m in grants.
The money was raised last year in an annual fundraiser staged in October by Global’s brands, including Classic FM, LBC and Capital FM.
“Thanks to your generosity, Global’s Make Some Noise is granting £2.5million of funding to 60 brilliant small charities in local communities throughout the UK, said the charity.
“The funding will provide a vital lifeline in communities – from food banks to befriending projects for the elderly and isolated, cancer wellbeing programmes to domestic abuse refuges, from employment opportunities to physical therapy for people with disabilities.”
Global director Emma Bradley added: “It’s been an incredibly tough couple of years for everyone. With the cost of living continuing to increase many more people will turn to local groups for help, putting extra strain on their resources.
“So, we’re pleased to be able to help small charities at the centre of communities and will continue to raise money and awareness for their vital work.”
This year’s Global Make Some Noise Day takes place on 7 October. The charity is looking for small and local charities to take part this year.
